Josef chuckled. She probably could smoke him in a baking competition. Baking had always been Fredrick’s thing. Josef handled dinners and the like. As for the dead people…. “…you get used to it. Zhe dead. I vas surrounded by zhem vhen I vas in Germany. Mein office had PILESCH of zhem.” His eyes darkened and he turned away, his madness struggling to come out.

“Oh! Mein! Gott! Yay!” Milo’s gleeful voice snapped Josef back into reality, and he turned his gaze back to the excited little Medic. “Danke! Danke SOOO much!” Milo nuzzled the box to his face. “I haff ‘lissaty cookiesch, Ch’osep!”

“Seems to be?” Josef raised his brows a little. “Milo ist a Medic. He vas taught his dutiesch before zhey efen taught him to shpeak. He ist a very gut Medic… ch’ust not very combat ready.”

She shuddered. “Sorry about that.” Looking down at Milo, she patted his head, chuckling. “And don’t hesitate to ask whenever you want a snack, I’m always prepared.” When mention of Milo’s medical training came up, Felicity shrugged. “I just wasn’t sure how much he knew, seeing as how young he seems.”

Milo continued to snuggle the box to him and sing about snacks and juice. His little world was quite focused on the joys of the moment.

Josef nodded. “Seemsch ist a gut vord. He may not look it now, but he ist  forty-sree yearsch old in body.” The older man sighed. “Vell… sort of. He ist less zhan a year of actual age. But he ist an adult in form. Most of zhe time.” He pointed to himself. “Looksch like me.”

Milo paused long enough to speak up “But Mini saysch I am better lookink!”

Josef scowled. “Go play mit your crayonsch, brat.”

Felicity blinked, confused. “I don’t quite follow you. Is he young but looks old normally, or old but looks young normally?” The entire affair was making her dizzy. “Sorry, I’m not as smart as you guys are.”

“To be fair, it confuses most people. In laymen’s terms, Milo vas created, almost a year ago. Durink his creation, technologies vere used to accelerate his age. After all, ve could not send a literal baby out to fight. So he looksch und has zhe hormones of an adult.” Josef winced as he spoke. He didn’t want to imagine Milo with his hormones.

Milo smiled again at Felicity. “I am shmall by choice srough zhe same technolochy. I vant to haff a childhood. So Ch’osep und mein Enchineer, Cal, made zhat possible.”

Josef nodded and gestured towards Milo. “But he shtill knows so leetle, like a kind. He must learn much in his shpare time. Do you undershtand now?”

“I’m sure you can, your Grace. Even if you are sick and not as strong as any of the lord in the court, you still have more heart and spirit that any of them. I admire that”

Once again her face turned to him, graced with the warm and pleasant smile. She hadn’t smiled like this for a long time and if she did it was always forced so she wouldn’t offend anyone, and risk a declaration of war.

“I’m just happy that I could help you, your Grace. I love to talk to people who are worth talking to, and helping others makes me feel wonderful inside. That’s also why I want to marry a king who can put the needs of his people before his own and help those less fortunate. A man like that will forever hold my heart in his hands”
A dreamy look feel over her face as she with a sigh, looked out of the window again, smiling out to the world.

There was no answer from the Prince. He heard those last words as he drifted into a content repose. Forever hold my heart she had said. He envied the man she would find. She was beautiful.. seemed kind enough… well spoken… He was sure though, thought he as he slipped deeper into sleep, that he wouldn’t get past her family’s scrutiny. But wouldn’t it be nice?

His head rolled a little and his dark lashes rested against his pale, but flushed, cheeks. His mouth and nose moved a little before a soft sigh escaped him.

__________

Meanwhile, the King was having fits. He was almost throttling the poor servant who had the misfortune of being designated to report to his ruler. “Vhat do you MEAN you cannot find him? He could not haff gone far! Look again!” By this point, it had no longer become a case of trying to get his son out where the Ladies could see him. Now the King was genuinely worried. What if the Prince had collapsed somewhere? What if when they found him he was cold and d- “LOOK AGAIN, YOU MISERABLE PILE OF BONESCH!” He shoved the servant away and stood in place looking like a deer before a hunter with bow and arrow drawn.

The Queen watched him, no longer amused. Her husband did not normally allow so much concern to show and his anxiety was catching. She stood and rearranged her skirts, announcing the need for a breath of fresh air. Her husband said nothing; he merely nodded and rested his forehead against a hand. As Queen Victoria, formerly of Ireland left the gathering room, she hitched up her skirts and put one foot before the other. Well, you know the saying? Why have others do what you can do yourself? And off she went.

a mild laughter and a warm smile came from the princess when it dawned on her that the prince had fallen asleep in her bed. He must have grown tired from all those things that had happened today, fully understandable. More than once this social life had made er tired too, physically and mentally so she understood the prince’s need for some rest.

She tugged him in under the duvet and watched him for a brief second as he slept. He looked like a pale angel in her bed, the black hair and pale skin made a beautiful contrast to each other. The princess turned around and headed out of her room to give him some peace to rest.

“Better head back to the court room, Agnes is probably wondering where i am” Madeleine thought to herself as she walked back to the dreaded  ego circus in the Throne room. A woman caught her eyes as she continued her path to the throne room.
“Sorry, my lady. You seem to be troubled, is there something wrong?”

Victoria stopped midmarch. Taking in the gown and the way the other carried herself, the Queen almost immediately recognized the Lady before her. She smiled a little. “You’re wise to take a break from that lot, my dear.. The Princess Madeleine, is it not?” Victoria inclined her head towards the other Royal personage and made a small curtsy. “I do apologize for wandering your halls unescorted, but.. Well…” Her blues eyes became troubled breifly, but, like any Queen, she supressed her expression until it was under control. “My son, Prince Milo, is missing. We haven’t seen him most of the afternoon.” She smoothed her skirt out some, trying very hard not to wring her hands. “His father thinks he may have collapsed.”

“I am, your Highness” The Princess confirmed to the Queen and returned the gesture likewise.
She gasped as the queen spoke of her reason to wandering the halls without anyone to keep an eye on her, not even a guard. The Princess rose a hand to her cheek and looked worried for a very brief moment, before clearing her throat and collect herself again.

“I’m so sorry your Highness. The Crown Prince can be found in my personal chambers. I found him out in the garden, he had collapsed, yes and I took him into my room to tend to him and make sure he wasn’t too badly hurt. I didn’t want to alarm anyone, but he is doing fine. For now he’s just resting a little so I decided to leave him be, for now. I was planning on checking up on him later, to make sure he was still doing fine and was awake… So sorry you Highness. Do you want me to lead you to where he is?”

She quickly turned a little to the side, reaching a gentle hand towards the area where the Prince was sleeping.

The Queen allowed herself a small murmur of relief. “The garden, of course.” She shook her head, a small, fond smile on her lips. “That’s almost always where he ends up. That or the stables. But when the servants checked those areas before, they said they had seen nothing of him. They must have just missed him.”

“If he is well, then I shall leave him to sleep. I shan’t be telling his father he sleeps in your room. That would cause quite a fuss from the King. But I will let him know that the Prince has been tended to by competent hands. I do beg your pardon for any sort of trouble he may have caused you.” True.. Milo may have been weak, but he was a handful at times. He wandered off only to be found playing with the hunting dogs or hiding in the corner of his pony’s stall, taking a nap. “He should have been with the Lords and Ladies. It is around that time for the Prince to choose a bride.” In a moment of complete honesty, the Queen smiled. “Do not tell a soul, but.. I hope he marries a tough one. The Ladies on display,” she sighed. “They are much too flimsy and rose petal delicate. Not at all like we raise them in Ireland.”

“Hahahaha! O I do so know what you mean, your Grace. I, sadly feel the same way against most of the noble men here. Too much focus on their own ego to fully see and understand that behind every king is a strong and independent woman, a fierce mother and a gentle lover. Sadly most men tend to forget that fact and leave us in the background, that’s where we have to stand tall and step forward. Like yourself your Grace”

The princess chuckled and gave a respected bow towards the Irish Queen. She was a handsome and strong woman, that kind of woman Madeleine hoped to become one day herself, when she had to step forward and become a queen of the land.

“But don’t worry your Highness, I shall send the Prince down as soon as he wakes up. I’ll make sure to take good care of him, you have my word on that, as the Crown Princess of Lichtenstein”
She curtsied deep before the Queen before heading back to her personal chambers again. She didn’t feel like going into the court as it were. She wanted to stay by his side and make sure he was okay.

Victoria watched the Princess depart and allowed herself a small hope that her husband become acquainted with the Royal House of Liechtenstein. To be sure, she saw in the Crown Princess an echo of herself when she was a young lass. Her eyes brightened and she leisurely strolled back towards the crowded room where her King waited.

When she approached, her husband practically pounced upon her in his eagerness to hear her news. “Vell? Vhere ist zhe boy?” His eyes spoke his next thoughts. Is he alive? Is he alright?

“Shhh. You make more fuss over the young man than does a nanny.” She sat down calmly and arranged her skirts. “Your son took a spill in the gardens. Never fear. He is resting now and in the best hands possible.”

The King thought about this, and knowing that a panic would cause gossip among the other Royal Heads, he relaxed his shoulders and gave a curt nod. When he saw his son next, he would box the young Prince’s ears himself. And then hold him as tightly as a father can a son.

Es tut mir leid… !” Milo still looked quite surprised with what he had done. He shakily stood, feathers sticking out from his thick hair, and headed over to his bed, reaching for another pillow. “I.. I haff neffer hurt a pillow before. I vas ch’ust sinkink of somesink.. zhat made a big ball of emotion in mein tummy! Und zhen “POOF!” Zhe feazhersch vere efferyvhere!” He padded back to ARL3 and looked up, smiling. “It vill not happen again.” He glanced at the sky through his window. “I haff kept you for a vhile.. I am sure you are tired of me by now.”

He briefly looked out of the window with him before looking back at the floor. “Yeah, I kinda need to get back to base now.” he replied, looking at his watch. His team would be expecting him in a few minutes, so he really shouldn’t waste any further time. He made his way towards Milo’s door as he prepared to leave to head back to 2Fort.

Milo’s shoulders slumped as he watched the man go. He felt highly embarrassed, now. It was the first time ARL3 had come for a visit and Milo had made an ass of himself. “…danke for zhe visit.”

Josef stood at he other side of the door, dark eyebrows close together as ARL3 appeared. “Let me valk you part of zhe vay out, Herr.”

He looked back to Milo. “I’ll try and visit again when I have some free time.” he called out, before disappearing.

He turned to Josef. “Ah, okay then. Thank you.” he said, smiling a little.

Josef looked over his shoulder as he closed the door. “I vill be back soon, leetle vone. Draw me a picture?”

A muffled “ogey” was heard as the door shut, Josef turning back to the Sniper and holding out an arm in the direction of the exit. “I must apologize for shnappink at you und Milo earlier,” He began. “You see, ve are used to vatchink our backs here. Zhe Shpies sent our vay haff often turned out to be.. not ordinary shpies.” His face lengthened into a frown. “If ve could look at singks zhe vay Milo does.. But, nein. Ve must keep our eyes open und our fangksch bared. If ve are to keep our Milochen. Not to mention our heads.”

He scratched his head as he listened to the story, not planning on leaving just yet. Not ordinary spies? Were they Tentas? Brutal Spies? He had to think about that one.

“It’s okay, Josef.” he calmly replied, raising his hand. “It was nice dropping by, though.” he turned for the exit.

Milo, being Milo had snuck back out and had followed the men down the hall. He felt truly embarrassed for his display of emotion. And now ARL3 was leaving on this bad note. Not on his watch! He called out and threw himself onto the Sniper’s leg. “I vill miss you. Please come back? As often as you like?”

Josef would have scolded the boy but for the earnest shame already in his eyes. So instead, he lifted Milo up and away from their visitor. “As he says. You are velcome to come back un-”

“-und help us fight.” Milo interrupted. His expression was serious and hopeful. “Supia says you are tuff.”

Sleepovers and Chocolate Kisses

minimedicrp:

askthelittleblumedic:

It was late afternoon bordering on evening in Teufort. The sun was heading towards the other end of its downwards journey, and long shadows were being cast from the buildings and cacti. The temperature was still hot, but certainly dropping. The mercenaries of the RED Team cleaned their weapons and prepared for the end of the day to give them leave to their own after dark lives.

Milo was on his cliff again. Very carefully, he sat, watching the path below. Excitement pumped through his veins as he kept his eyes fixed in the direction the led away from the base. Obedient for now, Poe sat on a nearby boulder, turning his head this way and that. He felt his young guardian’s thrill. It permeated the air.

And the cause for Milo’s excitement? Why, a sleepover! After much debating, arguing, and sulking on his part, Josef had finally agreed to bring Milo’s best friend, Mini, over for a night of fun. Victoria, Josef’s wife, had taken his side. It was she, in fact, who had told Milo about sleepovers. She had thought it a precious idea. Josef had thought it dangerous. SHE had thought it a learning experience. JOSEF had thought it morally questionable. SHE was his WIFE, and if he wanted SEX for the next YEAR, HE had BETTER say YES. Josef had meekly complied. Milo had watched the two of them, blue eyes bobbing over to whoever was speaking. He wasn’t really sure why no sex for a year was bad, but he certainly wanted Mini to come over and play all night.

And…. his racing excitement turned cold as nerves grabbed hold of him.. he also had something important to tell her.

“Mini slow down! We’ll get there in time, lil’ sheila”
Mundy chuckled as he walked down the dirt path with Mini, smiling at her childish merriment. She couldn’t walk normally, her body was all tense up  her stomach filled with butterflies and her face graced with a huge smile. Without thinking she had started running, leaving Mundy behind her a slight bit.

With a sudden jolt Mini stopped and looked back with a sheepish smile, rubbing her neck while holding her plush koala in one arm. She giggled and little and waited for the Sniper to catch up, luckily it only took a brief moment. She was bouncing slightly on the spot as she waited for the Sniper, and continued walking again, trying hard to hold her pace with him.

“Sorry! I’ve never tried a sleepover before so I am SO excited! It’s going to be SO much fun! We’re going to draw, play games, sing, tell stories and eat snacks while snuggling with our duvets! It’s going to be so much fun, mostly because it’s going to be together with Milo”
Mini chirruped and smiled even wider.
She had indeed never tried a sleepover, everything a normal teenager would have done was something she had never tried, her entire life from she was 7 to 17 was a black patch for her.

She had never tried being a normal kid or teenager as such so this was an amazing chance to try what normal people would do, and she would do it together with Milo, which would make everything SO much more fun and better. Like hit by lightning she started running. he Base where Milo lived, was within reach and she couldn’t control herself. Her legs just started working under her, making her sprint like a jack-rabbit towards the door. Mini came to a stop in front of it, brushed her dress off and rang the doorbell.

“Croisth Mini! Ya could have warned me”
The Sniper added as he, shortly after, reached the door too and gave her a look with a raised brow.

“S-sorry, hehehe”

Before the door opened, there was a shout from behind Mini. It was far enough away that the two didn’t turn at first.

“Mini!! MINI!! I AM HERE! VAIT FOR ME!!” Milo ran as fast as his little legs would take him, feet pounding on the sandy path. It had taken him quite a while to scramble down from his perch, but as soon as he had seen Mini’s red hair, he had hurried to join her.

Just as he was almost choking from loss of breath, the door opened and a tall figure looked out. The man squinted at Mini’s companion. “C’n Oi ‘elp yeh, ma-” His eyes fixed on Mini and a smile spread across his weather beaten face. “Well, then. Joe said we were expectin’ a midget. Guess yer th’ midget.” He looked back up at the Sniper. “Thanks fer bringin’ ‘er, mate. Name’s Mundy. Any friend o’ Mini’s.” He put out his hand… just as a small blue and grey figure slammed into his leg. “Whoa, there, l’il bloke.”

Milo tried to gasp something out, but couldn’t quite make his words work. He turned to Mini and flopped into her arms. “G’ah thee yeh.. Happah oo game..”
